Pink Ribbon Ball 2020

The KWIKFIT Pink Ribbon Ball celebrated its 17th Anniversary on Saturday 17th October 2020 at Crown Towers.

Since 2003 the Pink Ribbon Ball has supported breast cancer awareness and research. According to Cancer Council WA, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women of all ages. In Western Australia in 2014, there were 1,737 cases and 249 women died. Lifetime risk for breast cancer in women is 1 in 10 by age 75. However if detected early through regular screenings, the five year survival rate is 91%.

Men get breast cancer too. Based on Cancer Council WA, in Western Australian males in 2014, there were 14 cases and less than 5 deaths. Lifetime risk for breast cancer in men is 1 in 1,113 by age 75.

The Pink Ribbon Ball is held to create awareness, and urge women and men to get regular check-ups. The purpose of the event is to raise spirits, give hope, and recognise the lives of those who have been touched by breast cancer.

The program on the night included a 3-course banquet dinner, live entertainment, a charity live auction and raffle, testimonial speakers, and a Belle of the Ball competition.
